KANNUR: More information is out in connection with the death of the tiger tranquilized and captured in Kottiyoor. The forest department had informed that the tiger was not trapped in a fence wire but in a cable trap. They had earlier mentioned that it was trapped in a wire fence. The tiger died while being taken to Thrissur Zoo after tranquilizing it.
The tiger had lung and kidney infections. The postmortem report said that this was the cause of death. The forest department authorities now clarified that the tiger got stuck in the trap set in the plantation. The forest department said the trap was laid to prevent animals including wild boars and not trapped unexpectedly. The forest department is planning to question the land owner.
Reports said the cable used in the vehicle was used to lay the trap. The authorities informed that a notice will be issued to the owner of the place. The forest department said the stress while stuck in the trap is also the reason for the tiger's death. Chief Wildlife Warden D Jayaprasad is in charge of the investigation.
The forest department decided to shift the tiger to the zoo in Thrissur as it could not be released in the forest due to the loss of its right incisor. The forest department team left Kottiyoor at 9 pm with the tiger. The death was confirmed after the tiger was found motionless in Kondotty. The forest minister had then ordered to investigate the incident and submit a report.
