LONDON: Boyfriend mixed his father's sperm with his own sperm to impregnate his girlfriend. The shocking incident took place in the UK. The couple was facing fertility problems. When the doctor was consulted in this regard, IVF treatment was prescribed. However, the cost of Rs 5 lakh was beyond the couple's means. Following this, the boyfriend mixed his father's sperm with his sperm and artificially inseminated it into his girlfriend.
The woman later gave birth to a boy. The world came to know about this interesting incident after the boy turned five years old. Barnsley Council had asked the High Court in Sheffield to allow a DNA test to determine the boy's paternity after the unusual circumstances surrounding the child's birth were revealed.
However, the bench headed by Justice Paul rejected the counsel's demand. The court held that the child's parents or grandparents could later participate in the test and tell the child about his parentage on their own terms. The family always intended to keep the insemination a secret. Therefore, the court pointed out that there is no need for a paternity test at present.
Justice Paul said Barnsley Council had no business getting involved as the circumstances surrounding the woman's pregnancy could not be changed and the family could discuss the matter within themselves.
