KOCHI: Customs seized gold worth more than Rs 1.25 crore from a passenger in Nedumbassery. The gold was seized from Rafeeq, a native of Palakkad who had come from Sharjah. The gold was brought hidden inside a speaker and in his body.

When his baggage was screened, customs found something suspicious inside the speaker. Then when it was dismantled,1599 grams of gold was found hidden in it. Another 689 grams of gold was found hidden in four packets in his body. He was produced in court and remanded. Customs said that they will investigate whether there are more people with him.
