KANHANGAD: A man hanged himself after suffocating his mother and wife to death. The deceased have been identified as Surya Prakash (63), the owner of Scientific Watch Repairing shop near Kanhangad bus stand, who committed suicide after killing his wife Geetha (48) and mother Leela (93).

The shocking incident took place in a rented house near Kanhangad Railway Station yesterday morning. The police said that the cause of the deaths is suspected to be a financial crisis. The bodies were shifted to Pariyaram Medical College Hospital for post-mortem. DYSP Vinod told Kerala Kaumudi that more information will be known only after the post-mortem.

Ajay Prasad, Aishwarya and Arya are the children of Suryaprakash and Geetha. Ajay is working on e-Kerala project in Ernakulam. Aishwarya and Arya are married and live in their husband's house. In-laws: Madhu Palai and Shalu Athiyambur (Driver, Kanhangad Municipality).

'Mother and grandmother are gone, I am going too'

'Mother and grandmother are gone and I am going too' was the last phone message received by the elder son Ajay Prasad from Surya Prakash yesterday morning. The phone was hung up immediately. Ajay Prasad immediately called his friend and sent him home but by then all three were dead. Geetha's body was lying in the bedroom and Leela's in another room. Surya Prakash hanged himself in the kitchen.
