THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The police have yet to arrest the suspect in the case of a two-year-old girl who vanished while sleeping alongside her parents. Investigations remain muddled, with no definitive leads. After 19 harrowing hours, the child was discovered at 7.00 pm on Monday night in a ditch near a railway track, shrouded in dense bushes. Authorities speculate the child may have wandered off but this theory lacks confirmation.

A police team led by the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), scoured the area where the child was found, yet yielded no substantial leads. Notably, there are no CCTV cameras in the vicinity where the nomadic family was encamped or where the child was located.

Meanwhile, medical examinations reveal the child to be in good health with no signs of internal injury. Doctors across various disciplines have assessed her condition and she is expected to be discharged after one more day of observation.

In the midst of this ongoing investigation, police are gearing up to re-question the child's relatives. The father, who was drunk at the time of the incident was the first to notice the child's disappearance rendering his initial account unreliable. Other family members present will also undergo further interrogation.

Police speculation suggests several possibilities

1. The child may have ventured alone to the familiar bathing pond nearby.

2. If abducted, it's improbable to return the child during daylight hours.

3. Once the child's mental state stabilizes, she will be questioned with the help of her parents for further information .

4. The recovered materials from the scene where the child was found may or may not serve as evidence.

Questions regarding the child's unscathed condition

1. Did the child wander alone to the location in the dead of night?

2. How did she fall into a five-foot-deep pit without sustaining injuries?

3. The presence of drugs and soft drinks as revealed in scientific tests, raises further inquiries.

4. Despite thorough searches by the canine unit, why did the police dogs fail to locate the site?
