THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Central Meteorological Department has said that the temperature will remain high in the state today and tomorrow. The Meteorological Department has warned that there is a possibility of high temperature in eight districts.

Today and tomorrow (February 25 & 26, 2024) Palakkad district will experience a maximum temperature of 38 degrees Celsius. Kollam, Alappuzha, Kozhikode and Kannur districts will experience a maximum temperature of 37 degrees Celsius and Kottayam, Ernakulam and Thrissur districts will experience a maximum temperature of 36 degrees Celsius (2 - 4 above normal). (degrees Celsius more), the Central Meteorological Department has informed.These districts, except the hilly areas, are likely to experience hot and humid conditions today and tomorrow due to high temperatures and humid air.

Precautions

High heat can cause many serious health problems such as sunstroke, sunburn and dehydration.

Avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m.

Drink plenty of fresh water. Keep drinking water even if you are not thirsty.

Avoid alcohol, coffee, tea, carbonated soft drinks during the day. It may lead to dehydration.

Wear loose, light-colored cotton clothes.

Wear footwear when going out. It would be better to use an umbrella or a hat.

Eat plenty of fruits and vegetables. Encourage the use of ORS solution, Sambharam etc.

In places like markets, buildings, waste collection and deposit centers (dumping yards) there is a high possibility of fire outbreaks and spread. Fire audit should be conducted and proper safety precautions should be taken. Those who live near them and run establishments should be especially careful.

There is a possibility of forest fire spreading in case of excessive heat. Tourists and people living near forest areas should be especially careful. Forest fire situations should be avoided. The instructions of the forest department should be followed strictly.
