THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The skeleton found inside the Karyavattom campus of Kerala University has been confirmed to be that of a man. A cap, tie and reading glasses were also found along with the skeleton. The police concluded that the person had died by hanging.

After a long preparation, the police and fire rescue personnel got down inside the old water tank which was 20 feet deep and took out the skeleton. Forensic experts also went inside the tank for examination. Yesterday, the skeleton was found inside an old tank of the Water Authority attached to the botany department of the campus.

The skeleton was found through the manhole of the water tank when the campus staff came to clean the area. After being informed, Kazhakootam police and fire rescue team reached the spot and inspected the spot. The skeleton was lying at a depth of 20 feet. Therefore, the fire force could not go inside the tank without sufficient safety equipment and they returned. This morning, the forensic team, the fire force and the police reached the spot and started the process of removing the skeleton.

The team got into the tank after making safety arrangements as the tank had not been opened for a long time. The dog squad also reached the spot and conducted an investigation. Complaints in various police stations regarding missing people will be investigated. A DNA test will also be done. The police informed that a detailed investigation will be conducted to find out the identity of the skeleton.
