THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: As per Raj Bhavan's press release, three bills referred by the governor for the President's consideration have been withheld. While signing the Lokayukta Amendment Bill, the President denied the assent to the Kerala University Rules Amendment Bill (Amendment 2) 2022, the University Rules Amendment Bill 2022 and the University Rules Amendment Bill 2021, which exempt the governor from the post of chancellor in universities.
With this, the President's decision has dealt a heavy blow to the state government's moves to remove the governor from the control of the universities. Seven bills have been sent for the President's consideration. Of this, only the Lokayukta Bill was approved.
