NEYYATINKARA: A KSRTC ordinary bus collided with an auto that lost control at Plamootukada, killing one. Mohammad Shijin (24), a resident of Pothankodu Kaniyamkonam, who was a passenger in the auto, was crushed to death. Ten people including the female conductor of the KSRTC bus were injured. At around 3.30 pm on Friday, the auto lost control and crashed into the oncoming bus in front of Kakkavila Gas Agency in Plamoottukada Kakkavila.
Shijin was dead by the time he was taken to the hospital. Another passenger in the auto, Suhail (29), is undergoing treatment in critical condition. It is clear from the CCTV footage that the bus smashed into a nearby electric post and the wall of a house while it was swerving to avoid hitting the auto. The auto was completely destroyed. The front of the KSRTC bus was also damaged.
As soon as the accident took place, the local residents rushed and took out the injured. The injured were taken to the Neyyatinkara district hospital in the vehicle of K. Ansalan MLA who came after the bus.
