THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: On the basis of Prof. Sushil Khanna's report that middle management should be strengthened, seven persons appointed on contractual basis in KSRTC were dismissed without giving even a notice.
H.R. Manager Sheju and Finance General Manager Beena Begum were dismissed. Two executive engineers in the civil department and three trainees in the accounts department have also been dismissed. They came to know about the loss of their jobs only when they came home after work on February 29. Separate dismissal orders were prepared and sent to their personal mail.
According to the contract, one month's notice period should be given even if the job is to be terminated or discontinued or one month's salary should be paid. CMD has dismissed them without following this. Prof Sushil Khanna had found that the largest public sector system in the state would not function well without an HR department. A proposal to strengthen the middle management was also put forward. Based on that, 12 people were appointed on a contract basis. With the arrival of a new minister in the department, those who were appointed during the previous minister's tenure were dismissed en masse. Those who were working in private institutions and others applied after seeing the newspaper advertisement that there was a job vacancy in KSRTC. The appointment was after the interview.
