KOCHI: The decision of the Twenty20 Party to contest the Lok Sabha elections is not a challenge for the main fronts. The focus will be on the Chalakudy constituency comprising Twenty20 headquarters in Kizhakkambalam. The main parties are thinking that the urban areas with a lot of neutral voters and the Church affiliation of the Twenty20 candidates will influence the success or failure of the fronts.

Adv Antony Judy in Ernakulam and Adv Charley Paul in Chalakudy will be Twenty 20 candidates. Contesting for the Lok Sabha is part of expanding the party activity across the state. Twenty20 contested in eight constituencies in the last assembly elections.

Twenty20 is active in Kunnathunadu, Aluva and Perumbavoor assembly constituencies in Chalakudy. The party is rulinng in panchayats except in Aluva.

In Chalakudy, the main contest will be between Benny Bahanan of Congress and C Raveendranath of CPM.

Main rival is the LDF

Twenty20 leadership has more protest against LDF. Sabu M Jacob has taken a strong stance against the LDF government and its leaders.

The party leaders have not made any campaigns regarding Twenty 20 entering the fray. The leaders are assessing whether the relationship of the two candidates with the Christian Church will cause the vote to be swayed. Charlie Paul and Antony Judy were the office bearers of the church organizations.

Relief for other fronts

The fact that the candidates are fresh and unpopular gives comfort to other fronts. The leaders hope that the fact that they do not have a political background is also favourable.
