KOZHIKODE: Forest Minister AK Saseendran said that the bison that attacked Abraham in Kakkayam will be shot with a tranquillizer. The minister also stated that the family of the deceased Abraham will be given compensation within 48 hours. He said that in view of the attack by bisons, the forest department has ordered to strengthen the surveillance in the area.
The government is not ruling out protests against wildlife attacks. The minister said that the protests are being viewed seriously. At the same time, he dismissed protests using dead bodies. Saseendran said that such incidents cannot be seen as protest.

It is up to the public to decide whether to continue bargaining over the dead body. People's leaders should try to solve the problem, not to complicate it. The minister also said that the system to take care of fencing in case of wild animal attacks is limited.

The deputy collector of Kozhikode said that the bison will be shot. The Deputy Collector also said that immediate financial assistance of Rs 5 lakh will be given to the family of the deceased.

Abraham, a native of Kozhikode Kakkayam, was mauled to death by a bison. The attack was on the farm. A woman died in a wild elephant attack in Thrissur Peringalkut. Tribe head Rajan's wife Vatsa died.

Widespread protests continue over the killing of a farmer in Kozhikode's Kakkayam by a bison. Congress workers and locals came to Kozhikode Medical College Hospital to protest. Congress leaders say that they will not allow the body to be shifted until the authorities reach the spot.

The tension is continuing at the place. The protestors demanded that the collector should reach the medical college immediately. There is a strong protest demanding an order to shoot and kill the bison that attacked the farmer.

It is also alleged that the forest department has not taken any action even though bisons have been threatening the lives of people in the Kakkayam area for two days. When the attempt to take the body to the morgue was stopped, there was a scuffle with the police.
