KOCHI: The documents in the Abhimanyu murder case have gone missing from court. Documents, including the charge sheet in the case, went missing from the Ernakulam Sessions Court. The Sessions Judge had informed the High Court about the matter in December 2023. The High Court directed the Sessions Court to find the documents as soon as possible.
Abhimanyu, an SFI activist, was stabbed to death on July 2, 2018, following a clash between SFI-Campus Front activists regarding a graffiti painted on the wall of the Maharaja's College. Abhimanyu was a second-year chemistry student at Maharaja's and a member of the SFI Idukki district committee when he was killed.
Abhimanyu was killed the day before the entrance festival organized in the college. The issues started when Campus Front painted graffiti on a wall booked by SFI. Abhimanyu then painted graffiti on top of the graffiti by the Campus Front. This irked the Campus Front activists and led to a conflict between the SFI and Campus Front activists. Abhimanyu was stabbed to death during this conflict.
According to the charge sheet, Popular Front activists from outside the college entered the campus with weapons. Abhimanyu was stabbed by Nettoor Mekkattu native Sahal Hamza (25). There are 26 accused and 125 witnesses in the Abhimanyu murder case.
