THRISSUR: It is reported that Padmaja may get a Rajya Sabha seat and a post in the party if she joins the BJP. There are indications that she will make some revelations today. Padmaja's change of party will be a big blow to the Congress, which is gearing up for the Lok Sabha elections.

Padmaja's rift with the Congress leaders became more evident when the district leaders stopped her from entering Priyanka Gandhi's car during an election rally in Thrissur ahead of the assembly elections. This strained her ties with the party leaders. However, she refrained from openly expressing the difference of opinion.

Padmaja also protested against the fact that women were not given due representation in elections. In the last assembly election, there was an allegation that NDA candidate Suresh Gopi had seized the votes of Padmaja in the Thrissur constituency.

It is reported that Padmaja has been in Delhi for the last four days. It is also indicated that she went to the BJP headquarters yesterday evening. However, she did not go to the AICC office in Delhi. It is also said that she told some people that she was going to Varanasi. With rumours about Padmaja joining the BJP doing the rounds, KC Venugopal had directed her to talk to the media. However, she posted on Facebook saying that she was joking and that the reports about her joining the BJP were fake. Padmaja later withdrew the post.
