NEW DELHI: Former Chief Minister K Karunakaran's daughter and KPCC political affairs committee member Padmaja Venugopal has said that the Congress made her join the BJP. Padmaja also stated that she is leaving the party because she is fed up and will accept BJP membership at 5 pm.

"The most important thing for a party is a good leader. That's the kind of leadership I saw in Modi. That is why I decided to join BJP. I was alienated from the Congress even after the last election. I know very well who defeated me. Despite filing a complaint in this regard, the party did not give any consideration. They kept the very people I complained about under my nose. This was too much for me to bear. That's why I was not active in anything. If not, I should leave all politics and leave here," Padmaja said.

"I'm not cheating. These are the pains of my mind. They brought me here. Even when I go now, I have no complaints. No matter what anyone says, I have no complaints and no worries. Congress made me join the BJP," she added.

"I know how sad my father left here. Everyone knows how much my brother has troubled my father. When K Muraleedharan hurt me, I saw no leaders. It was not the BJP or the Communists who defeated me in the election, but the Congressmen themselves. I have no problem even if K Muraleedharan breaks his relationship with me because of this. I am going to BJP without any conditions. I only want to work with peace of mind," Padmaja Venugopal clarified.
