NEW DELHI: Ending all surmises around her switch to the saffron party, Congress leader from Kerala and daughter of veteran K Karunakaran, Padmaja Venugopal joined BJP after reaching the party headquarters in New Delhi. Former Union Minister Prakash Javadekar handed over the membership card to Padmaja.
Padmaja while interacting with the media said she was estranged from the congress party for many years. She also said that the high command didn’t even care to consider her complaints despite repeated pleading. Padmaja also revealed about being denied permission to meet Sonia Gandhi.
“All my complaints to the congress leadership were thrown to the dustbin by many influential names. I want to continue politics peacefully and I am very happy that I opted for BJP,” said Padmaja.
Padmaja also heaped praises on PM Modi calling him a “great leader”. Prakash Javadekar after handing over the membership card to Padmaja hinted at some big changes going to take place in Kerala.
