NEW DELHI: The Congress leadership on Thursday announced that it has decided on the candidates for all the 16 constituencies where the party will be contesting for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in Kerala. Leaders, including K Sudhakaran and VD Satheesan, were speaking to the media after the meeting of the Congress Central Election Committee in Delhi.
K Sudhakaran said that big surprises can be expected in the list of candidates in Kerala. There is a lot of curiosity surrounding the party's candidates in Alappuzha and Wayanad constituencies. Meanwhile, it is reported that K Sudhakaran has agreed to contest in Kannur. The decision in Wayanad constituency has been left to Rahul Gandhi.
The leaders are saying that the sitting Congress MPs of Kerala will contest from their respective constituencies. There will be a surprise candidate in Alappuzha. It is hinted that Rahul Gandhi will contest from Wayanad itself.
"There is no dispute regarding the selection of candidates in Kerala. The list will be announced on Friday," KC Venugopal said.
Meanwhile, it has not been decided whether Rahul will contest from Amethi. Shashi Tharoor will contest from Thiruvananthapuram and K Sudhakaran from Kannur.
