MALAPPURAM: In a major drug bust, the Excise Department seized 265.14 grams of methamphetamine from a car in Nilambur. Three persons, including a woman, were arrested. The Methamphetamine was seized from the accused who were travelling in an Innova car during a vehicle inspection on the Vadapuram-Thalippoyil road.

The arrested persons are Thamarassery native Shihabuddin, Nilambur native Muhammad Ijas and Kozhikode Thiruvambady native Sakkira AK. Drugs worth Rs 8 lakh in the market were recovered from them. The inspection was conducted by an excise team led by Kalikavu Range Inspector Naufal. According to the Excise officials, the accused were transporting the drugs from Thamarassery to Nilambur.

The other members of the Excise party were Preventive Officer Grade Arunkumar KS, Civil Excise Officers Muhammed Habeeb KP, Mohammed Afsal V, Sulaiman M, Lijin V, Mohammed Shareef N, Vipin KV, Woman Civil Excise Officers Rajani P, Sreeja PK and Excise Driver Savad Nalakathu.
