The electricity board's warning that load shedding will have to be introduced in the state is causing concern among the public as the climate changes day by day and heats up steadily, especially during exam time. In this regard, it has been stated in the letter that load shedding will be required if the board does not pay the huge arrears due to the government. Due to reduced rainfall, water in all reservoirs has reduced. With the cancellation of long-term contracts for electricity, there is no cheap electricity. If you want to buy electricity from open sources, you have to pay upfront. The board does not have the funds for that.

The Reserve Bank has included KSEB in the list of PSUs whose loans have been banned due to mounting electricity bill arrears and continuous board losses. KSEB is a group that has no qualms about disconnecting power if a common man is a day late in paying the electricity bill. It does not even hesitate to disconnect without warning. But there is no enthusiasm to recover the huge dues from various government departments. This is only possible if the government takes a strict stand through an order.

A total of Rs 1768.80 crore is to be released from government institutions. Out of this, the arrears of the water authority are the highest. The Chief Minister called a meeting to resolve this but was unsuccessful. The connection of the water authority cannot be disconnected as the supply of drinking water will be interrupted. The electricity bill arrears of private institutions amount to 1086.15 crores. A total of Rs 3585.67 crore is to be collected under various categories. Some private companies have practiced electricity theft and fraud with the connivance of their employees. The board does not hesitate to find out or take action. You don't have to go back too far to know the history of electricity theft being accurately caught and huge fines levied by competent officials. There is also a practice of diverting the amount to be paid to the government board. 60 crores of the German bank received for the green corridor have not been transferred even after four months. 40 crores of NABARD has not been paid even after seven months.

In the name of financial crisis, public sector organizations are not paying electricity bills. But when the situation becomes alarming, the government should take the initiative to take immediate action. People are literally suffering because of the rising heat. Naturally, power consumption will increase. Power outages due to load shedding can be unbearable when you can't even sleep without using a fan. Drinking water shortage is already acute in the state. There is no doubt that if the power crisis is added to it, it will turn into a blackout for the people.
