THODUPUZHA: It is rumored that former CPM MLA of Devikulam constituency, Rajendran, will join the BJP. BJP leaders visited Rajendran's house and held discussions. Information is that senior leader P.K. Krishnadas spoke on the phone.
Rajendran informed the party leadership about this but denied the news of going to BJP. Rajendran said that rumors and baseless things are being spread. "I have not taken the position of going to any other party," he said, adding that only if the door of the party is completely closed, other ways will be sought.
The information is that there was a discussion with Rajendran a month ago when the Yatra led by BJP state president K Surendran reached Idukki. Apart from this, P.K. Krishnadas also discussed with him on the phone. It is suggested that a national leader of the BJP from Tamil Nadu is also in touch with Rajendran. BJP sources have not denied any of this news. The party had suspended Rajendran from primary membership for a year on allegations that he had tried to defeat the CPM candidate from Devikulam constituency in the last assembly elections.
The suspension expired last January, but no action was taken to lift the suspension. As part of this, State Secretary M.V. Govindan discussed with Rajendran. At that time, BJP Rajendran informed the party leadership that the leaders had approached him. There are also allegations that Rajendran's pressure strategy is to withdraw from the party's disciplinary process in a situation where the stage is set for the Lok Sabha elections.
CPM State Secretary M.V. Govindan said that Rajendran will not join BJP and the news is just a media creation. The party had taken action on him. He will cooperate with the party after its expiry. Those with experience working in key areas will be retained. It is only their dream to get people from CPM to BJP. In the election, K. Muralidharan has been to many places. There have been defeats. He withdrew from Vadakara due to fear of failure. Will lose in Thrissur too. LDF will win all 20 seats.
