NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that the test of the Agni 5 missile using MIRV technology developed by India was a success. Narendra Modi congratulated the DRDO scientists for the success of the experiment named Mission Divyastra.

It can attack targets at a range of 6,000 km with very high accuracy. The 17-meter-long missile weighs 50 tons. The Agni 5 missile can also be fired at multiple targets at the same time with the help of MIRV technology.

The Agni 5 Missile is the longest range missile in the history of India's weapons program. With this, India has become one of the few countries with MIRV technology. India's successful test of Agni 5 is a strong warning to China, which is causing tension along the border.

Proud of our DRDO scientists for Mission Divyastra, the first flight test of indigenously developed Agni-5 missile with Multiple Independently Targetable Re-entry Vehicle (MIRV) technology.
