THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Protests, including those by the Left Front, occurred in the capital against the central government's action on the Citizenship Amendment Act. LDF candidate for Thiruvananthapuram parliamentary constituency, Pannyan Ravindran, inaugurated the LDF-led march to the Aegis office. INTUC district president V.R. Prathapan led the INTUC march to the Aegis office. KPCC Vice President VT Balram inaugurated the Youth Congress march to Raj Bhavan.

Pannyan Ravindran stated that the Citizenship Amendment Act threatens secularism. LDF leaders such as Sathyan Mokeri, C Jayanbabu, M. Vijayakumar, Mankot Radhakrishnan, Dr A Neelalohitadas, Adv S Firoz Lal, Jamila Prakasam, J Sahayadas, Thambanoor Rajeev, Thomas Fernandes and SM Basheer spoke.

VR Prathapan criticized the Center's timing of implementing the Citizenship Amendment Act just before elections. SN Puram Jalal chaired the meeting and speakers included Anthony Albert, Puthanpally Nisar, M S Tajuddin, P Biju, K M Abdul Salam, Pathamkal Subhash, Prabha Parassala, Sujapriya and Eraniyal Shashi.

During the Youth Congress march to Raj Bhavan, an effigy of Prime Minister Narendra Modi was burnt. VT Balram condemned the Center's unconstitutional actions to use religion as a criterion for citizenship. District President Nemam Shajeer presided over the event with State General Secretary Anish Kattakada, Subija, State Secretaries Ami Thilak, Rajith Ravindran, Afzal Balaramapuram, R S Vpin, C S Arun, District Vice President Rinku Pathipurail, Balaramapuram Zulfi, District Secretaries Sajin Vellaukonam, Shinu Nedumangad, Bahul Krishna, Reshma, Munir Balaramapuram, Dinamol, Ajeesh Nath, and Assembly Presidents Suresh Xavier, Ranjith Ampalamuk, Daniel Pappanam and Vineeth Neyyattinkara leading the way.
