MALAYINKEEZHU: Locals could not believe that BT Priyanka (29), who came to Ernakulam for IAS coaching, was remanded in the case of embezzling more than three crore rupees through stock market trading. Hailing from Vilavoorkal village in Kattakada taluk, Priyanka used to occasionally visit her home from Kochi where she led an opulent life in the guise of IAS coaching.
Priyanka’s father Balachandran had made all arrangements for her daughter to study in Kochi, but just months into coaching Priyanka dropped the course midway informing her family about a lucrative job she got into. Just three days before she was remanded, Priyanka was spotted at Malyinkeezhu bus stop at night and when enquired by her natives, she informed them about going to Ernakulam.
Priyanka's father Balachandran was an active member of the Congress and a former leader of the INTUC at the airport. He left active politics after getting a job in the Government Press. Due to financial obligations, the family were living on rent in Shanthanmoola after giving away their house and land on lease. Presently, Priyanka's family is staying in a rented house near Srikrishna Swamy Temple in Malayinkeezhu.
The natives have been told that Priyanka’s brother Rajeev is a navy professional. But the police say that Rajeev, mother Thangamani and Priyanka’s boyfriend Shamnas are all involved in the gang. According to police sources, all have gone hiding but to much surprise, locals saw Thangamani travelling in an auto rickshaw on the last day through Malayinkeezhu town.
Priyanka lived a life of luxury after deceiving many through a fake stock market trading company. There are many police complaints against Priyanka across various police stations but not in the Malayinkeezhu region.
