THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan criticized the Congress on the Citizenship Amendment Act, blaming them for not joining the CPM in protest in Kerala and stating that this decision challenges the people of the state.

When the Citizenship Bill passed in Parliament, Kerala opposed it, with both the ruling party and opposition protesting. The Chief Minister highlighted that the Kerala Legislative Assembly unanimously passed a resolution on the issue.

He questioned the Congress's national stance on the CAA, noting that only AM Arif MP objected while Congress MPs remained silent in the Lok Sabha. In 2019, during nationwide protests, Congress leaders were having feast at the President's house. CM also criticized KC Venugopal.

He added that only cases where applications were not received would have charges withdrawn. Out of 260 cases registered in CAA agitation, 86 were ordered to be withdrawn and the remaining ones disposed of in court.
