Green and organic are two usages that have increased in demand in the market with the increased awareness in environmental protection and health care. Using and promoting green products and organic resources has become part of a new green culture, which is a good thing. At the same time, it is necessary to seriously investigate how many of these two categories of eco-friendly and health-friendly products actually comply with green conditions and are produced entirely by organic means.

Green and organic products are generally expensive and therefore there are a lot of fakes. The central government has decided to issue special guidelines under the Consumer Protection Act to prevent such fake products. The draft of the proposed guidelines has been published on the website of the Central Consumer Protection Authority. The public has until the 21st to submit suggestions. Thereafter, the guidelines will come into force upon notification in the Gazette. The main purpose of issuing the guidelines is to prevent traders from misleading consumers by advertising the products as green and organic in their advertisements and charging high prices in the name of such products.

The ones who will be caught are those who falsely state green, clean, eco-friendly and good for the planet on the labels of products ranging
from electronic and household cleaning products to packaged food items with the aim of higher sales. Only organizations or companies with proper documentation and special permission that products are manufactured or produced according to green and organic standards will now be authorized to record the label in the above model. One of the guidelines is that advertisements should include evidence for claims about the green and organic nature of products. Even if the downsides are hidden, the consumer can legally challenge it. It is also suggested that advertisements should avoid strange and complex expressions that mislead the consumer, and tell the story in simple language.

These green guidelines apply not only to advertisements in print media and TV but also to advertisements on social media. The state government has the responsibility to ensure that the manufacturers and marketers of the products strictly follow the central guidelines. Consumers should also be aware of this. Don't forget that those of us who see labels like green and organic and buy them at a high price thinking that the product is environmentally friendly and the food product is completely safe for health, also have a responsibility to ensure that such claims are 100% honest.
