NEW DELHI: Bharat Rashtra Samiti (BRS) leader and former Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhara Rao's daughter K. Kavitha has been arrested in the Delhi liquor case. Kavitha, who was taken into custody by ED this afternoon, was arrested in the evening. ED and Income Tax Department raided Kavitha's residence in Jubilee Hills, Hyderabad. She was taken into custody after this.
Meanwhile, the Sessions Court has ordered Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal to appear in the Magistrate's Court in the liquor case. Sessions Court's order rejected Kejriwal's plea to stay the ED summons in the case. Last month, the court had extended time to Kejriwal to appear in person in the case. The court directed him to appear in person on March 16. Meanwhile, Kejriwal approached the Sessions Court demanding that the ED summons be dismissed.
ED had found corruption in the handing over of the government-owned liquor license to the private sector in 2021. ED alleged that Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, Kavita and AAP leader Vijay Nair were involved in the deal in which a few liquor businessmen got undeserved profits.
