PARASSALA: Just a few days back an injured youngster was found lying on the roadside in a purported case of an accident. Three days after treatment, the youngster succumbed to his injuries and now, police have connected the dots and discerned it as a murder.
Hanifa's son Aseem (27) of Vallavilai Puthanveedu was found on the roadside at 12.45 am on Thursday. Shamir (34), a native of Medavilakam and his wife Jennifa Albert, a native of Adaikkakuzhi were taken into custody by Pozhiyoor police.
It is reported that the couple after murdering Aseem tried to drop his body on the road to make it look like a clear case of accident death. Passers-by found Aseem unconscious near Ottaplavila-Chenkavila road and informed police about the incident. Aseem was soon rushed to Parassala Taluk Hospital for primary treatment. Under police assistance, he was then taken to Thiruvananthapuram Medical College Hospital. On Saturday at 11 am, Aseem succumbed to his injuries.
According to police: Jenifa is now estranged from her husband and lives on her own. Aseem, who works in a broiler shop in Kollemcode nursed a good rapport with Jenifa and used to frequent her house in Mankuzhi. On Thursday night, Shamir visited her wife’s place taking the two by surprise. Later Aseem and Shamir engaged in a bitter verbal feud.
In the melee, Shamir took a wooden plank and hit Aseem on his head resulting in the young man collapsing to the ground. The couple predicted the worst and thought Aseem was already dead. They soon took his body and dropped it in a deserted area of Panangala. Pozhiyoor police after confirming the death of Aseem interrogated his close friends mostly from the Tamil Nadu border and got news of Aseem’s amour with Jenifa.
Pozhiyoor police later took Jenifa into custody and in the interrogation, she confessed to the crimes. Shamir was arrested based on this statement. Aseem’s body is still kept at the hospital mortuary. The accused were taken into custody by a team consisting of SHO Dipu, Grade SIs Prem, Deepak and ASI Jayalakshmi, CPOs Shibu, Dipin and Jishnu.
