NEW DELHI: Election Commission has released the details of donations received by political parties through electoral bonds. The information submitted by the Commission in a sealed envelope in the Supreme Court was released the other day. This is data prior to April 12, 2019. Election Commission had released the information after this last week.
In the financial year 2017-'18, BJP got 500 bonds. 210 crores was received by BJP through this. Before the 2019 elections, the BJP got a bond of 1450 crores. 383 crores was donated to Congress during this period. Meanwhile, out of 656.5 crore received by DMK, 509 crore was given by Santiago Martin's Future Gaming and Hotel Services Company.
The figures for bonds between 2020 and 2023 have been released. Of the total 1368 crore electoral bonds purchased by Martin, 37 percent was given to DMK. Megha Engineering and Infrastructure, IPL team Chennai Super Kings, Sun TV, Ramco Cements and Apollo Hospitals have also contributed to DMK. Meanwhile, out of the 6 crores received by the opposition party A.I.D.M.K, Chennai Super Kings gave 5 crores.
