KOCHI: After bottled water became a hit, the state government is introducing its own soft drink and soda under the 'Hilly Aqua' brand.

KIIDD, a public sector organization under the Department of Water Resources, has decided to strengthen its presence in this sector as well, taking into account the huge increase in the sale of soft drinks during the hot summer.

These may reach the market in September. KIIDD will soon go into tender process for machine etc. A report on the dimensions and cost of the bottle is being prepared.

Hilly Aqua's Thodupuzha and Aruvikkara plants will produce soft drinks and soda. There are soft drinks in the market starting from Rs 10. The lowest price for bottled soda is Rs 15. Hilly Aqua is below all these in terms of price. Hilly Aqua bottled water sales are at a record.

80,800 bottles of water

The Thodupuzha and Aruvikara plants produce 80,800 bottles of water per day in two shifts. Distributors are ready for Hilly Aqua on taluk basis. A litre of Hilly Aqua is sold at Rs 15 in shops. Hilly Aqua is available at ration shop and Neethi Medical Store for Rs.10.

Starting in 2015

Hilly Aqua entered the market in 2015 with one liter bottled water. It is now available in two-liter and half-liter bottles and 20 liter cans as well. Hilly Aqua is now in the process of exporting bottled water.
