NEW DELHI: Union Minister Pashupati Kumar Paras has resigned from the Narendra Modi cabinet and has also walked out from the NDA alliance in a major setback to BJP at a time when the elections are around the corner. Pashupati Paras, the leader of the Rashtriya Lok Janshakti Party (RLJP) has decided to part ways with NDA following the unsolved seat-sharing disputes surrounding Bihar. RLJP was denied a set by NDA in the upcoming elections.
“The NDA announced an alliance in Bihar. Thanks to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, I am grateful to him. My party faced injustice. Therefore, I am resigning from the post of Union Minister” - said Pashupati.
In Bihar, the NDA ignored RLJP when the Lok Sabha seat division was completed. Out of 40 Lok Sabha constituencies, BJP has 17, Janata Dal (U) 16, Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) 5, Hindustani Awam Morcha 1 and Rashtriya Lok Manch 1.
Paras is reportedly irked by NDA’s decision to gift 5 seats for his nephew Chirag Paswan’s party. Paras has also made no moves to join the congress alliance in Bihar ahead of the vital LS polls.
