NEW DELHI: Former Devikulam MLA S Rajendran has once again ignited the rumours of him getting close with the BJP as he held talks with BJP Kerala Prabhari Prakash Javadekar on Wednesday in Delhi. The meeting took place at Javadekar's residence in Delhi. However, Rajendran said that it was only a friendly visit and that he did intend to join the BJP. He also said that he discussed the plantation issue with Javadekar and that he would renew his CPM membership after resolving his differences with the party.

Earlier, Rajendran had said that some BJP leaders had held discussions with him. Following this, he said that his mind was not allowing him to work with deceivers and hence he was not interested in renewing the party membership. Later, the rumours of Rajendran joining the BJP were put to an end after he attended the LDF convention following the discussions held with senior CPM leaders. The meeting with Javadekar comes amidst this.

Rajendran was suspended from the CPM for allegedly working against A Raja, the CPM candidate in the Devikulam Assembly constituency, during the last assembly election. Rajendran was unhappy with the party for not reinstating him despite the end of the suspension period.
