KASARAGOD: With the battlefield filled with candidates, a three-cornered fight is heating up in the Kasaragod constituency. Candidates are excited about the constituency tour. Leftist candidate MV Balakrishnan, who has completed his third tour, is leading in campaign work. UDF's Rajmohan Unnithan, who made history in 2019 by capturing the constituency which was a Left stronghold after 35 years, has entered the election to retain the seat. NDA is stepping up its fight by fielding newcomer woman candidate ML Ashwini to capture the fort with Modi's guarantee. All three candidates are clarifying their policies.

Majority will double: Rajmohan Unnithan

People will vote for me no matter who is contesting against me. After five years, he became one of them. I have been in the happiness, sorrows and joys of voters. There is no need to tell and convince the people of the constituency about me. This time also hundred percent success is guaranteed. Confidence is tenfold. In 2019, I won by 40,438 votes. I got not only UDF votes. CPM votes declined in Kalliasseri, Payyannur, Uduma and Thrikaripur. I built a lead of 9,000 votes in Uduma, where KPCC president K Sudhakaran lost. This time the majority will increase. All conditions are favourable. This is an election to bring the 'India' front to power at the Centre. In five years there has been a spurt in development in the constituency, including railway development projects and reconstruction of national highways. Many trains have been given new stops.

Will correct the mistake: MV Balakrishnan

Campaign that Rahul Gandhi, who contested in Wayanad, will become the Prime Minister and the Sabarimala issue helped UDF win in the Kasaragod constituency by a narrow margin. It was a mistake and voters are disappointed. They are trying to right the wrong. The Left Front will win this election with a huge majority. Kasaragod is a constituency where no development work has taken place in the last five years. No big railway projects came up. Railway over bridges started earlier have been added to own account. Only 40 percent of MP funds were spent. Nothing was done for Endosulfan victims. The only thing that happened was high mass lights with MP's photo. The development plans of the state government have changed the face of the constituency. If the 'India' front comes to power, the Citizenship Amendment Act will be thrown into the Arabian Sea.

Will implement Modi guarantee: ML Ashwini

The reason for the lack of development in the constituency is because there is no NDA MP. If I win, I will work towards setting up Kasaragod AIIMS and a medical college affiliated to the Central University. The MP and the state government are responsible for North Kerala's backwardness in health, education and development. The development projects implemented by the Narendra Modi government in the last ten years have brought great changes in the country. National highway construction is done with central funds. It will make a big difference in the field of transportation. The Centre implemented schemes for the welfare of women and children, schemes to help farmers, financial assistance to the poor, and Swachh Bharat Abhiyan. Projects have been implemented to help the people of Kerala during Covid. Here the two fronts are making only verbal promises. My guarantee is that there will be Modi guarantee in Kasaragod too.
