KOTTAYAM: Interpol arrested the accused in the case of the rape of a girl in Pala. Yahya Khan, a native of Vizhinjam, was arrested in UAE. The incident related to the case took place in 2008. The accused had raped a mentally challenged girl. The accused came to the girl's house to sell utensils. Police sought the help of Interpol after he went absconding when he was released on bail.
Yahya Khan was a door-to-door utensils dealer. In June 2008, he came to a house in Pala for business and raped the girl who was alone in the house. The Pala police registered a case and arrested him. However, the accused went on the run after getting bail from the court.
A vigorous search was conducted under the leadership of the District Police Chief to nab him who was absconding. It was later found that the accused had gone abroad after hiding in Kannur and Malappuram. Then Interpol declared him an international criminal. According to the information, the accused was arrested two days ago.
