PALAKKAD: The wild boar, that bit and tore apart the legs of a village woman in Kuzhalmannam, was shot dead by forest officials along with another boar at around 3:30 am on Saturday. Krishnan's wife Tatha (61), was seriously injured in the attack by a wild boar and is undergoing treatment at the Thrissur Medical College Hospital.

The wild boar speared the senile woman while she was standing in the backyard of her house. Later the boar ferociously bit her legs while the woman was lying injured on the ground. She was immediately rushed to Palakkad District Hospital and later to Thrissur Medical College Hospital.

The woman’s attempt to escape went in vain after the boar strongly held her legs with its mouth and started devouring it. By the time, the boar stopped biting, much of the flesh from the leg portion was lost.

Initially, Thatha was admitted to a district hospital but her injury was deemed serious which made her family rush her to Thrissur Medical College. The condition is continuing serious. Thatha is an MGNREGA worker. She is the sole breadwinner of a financially struggling family.

According to locals, this area is regularly roamed by wild boars. However, it is unprecedented for boars to come near houses and attack humans. This incident has raised concern among people living in the area.
