THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: First the fireworks, then the thrilling theme music from Rajinikanth's 'Jailer'. After that, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan got out of the car like a mass hero, much to the excitement of party workers. Pinarayi Vijayan became active in the LDF's election campaign from yesterday. He first participated in the campaign in Neyyattinkara. Later, he participated in campaign events in Thiruvallam and Pettah.
Pinarayi was like the general at the battlefront, as he led the campaigning for LDF candidate Pannyan Raveendran at various locations in the Thiruvananthapuram constituency. During the campaigning, the CM repeated that BJP's policies are dangerous for the country. He also lashed out at the stands taken by the Congress. He said that those who oppose communalism by standing on the side of secularism should not change their opinions every now and then.
During his one-hour-long speeches, he clearly explained the Electoral Bond issue and the concerns of the religious minorities on the Citizenship Amendment Act. Large crowds, including women and the elderly, came to listen to the Chief Minister at each venue. Activists shouted slogans and burst firecrackers to welcome the Chief Minister.
The first program was at 10.30 am at Akshaya Auditorium in Neyyatinkara. Speaking at the program, Pinarayi underlined that BJP will not win in Kerala.
"BJP's policy will not work in this land of secularism. Crores of people are worried about the CAA issue. The Congress national president was laughing when asked about the party's stand on the issue," Pinarayi said.
The Chief Minister reached the second venue in Thiruvallam Maidan by 4.55 pm. Party workers were excited as the CM waved at them. He said that democracy in the country is in a dangerous state. He highlighted the arrest of the Delhi Chief Minister and the undemocratic nature of the central government.
"Electoral bond is a huge scam. Not only the BJP but also Congress got its share. Electoral bonds also have a role in Kejriwal's arrest.
Income Tax Dept steps up efforts to put pressure on opposition parties," he said.
At 6.15 pm, he reached the third venue, K Pankajakshan Park in Pettah. He launched a scathing attack on BJP and Congress without any loss of enthusiasm.
"It is the evil mind of the BJP that has put the state in crisis by not giving it the money it deserves. Opposition in Kerala did not protest against it. Congress was with the BJP on all issues like the Citizenship Amendment, NIA Amendment, UAPA Bill, etc. Arif of Alappuzha was the only dissenting voice in the Parliament in all this," he added.
