IDUKKI: In Idukki, the state's largest Lok Sabha constituency by size, the campaign is in full swing. LDF candidate Joyce George and UDF candidate Dean Kuriakos are facing each other for the third time. The BJP has also intensified the competition and all three candidates are clarifying their positions.

Dean Kuriakos (UDF candidate) believes the result will be against the government. He argues that the election will become a verdict against the Left government, which has been hurting the people of Idukki for eight years. He emphasizes the importance of a secular democratic government led by the Congress at the center. Kuriakos highlights his efforts over the last five years to earn the trust and hope of the people of the constituency. He mentions taking stances on issues like Mullaperiyar, buffer zone, construction bans, and wildlife attacks, considering the sentiments of the people. He also criticizes the cuts to the MP fund by the central government during the COVID-19 period, despite utilizing the received amount in backward areas.

Joyce George (LDF candidate) expresses confidence due to the favorable political environment and his ten years of rapport with the people. He promises not to leave the people of the hilly areas waiting for assistance. George criticizes the BJP government, alleging that it is asserting religion as the standard of rights in the country through the Citizenship Amendment Act. He also mentions that court verdicts are straining human life in Idukki and promises to prepare an action plan to resolve wildlife attacks using coordinated efforts and funds from various sources, including the MP fund.

Sangeetha Viswanathan (NDA candidate) is optimistic about her chances, claiming a 100% success rate. She believes people support the idea of development proposed by Narendra Modi and desire stable governance and development. Viswanathan mentions addressing long-standing demands of the people, such as land issues and lack of proper healthcare facilities. She pledges to prioritize the health sector and prepare an action plan to tackle wildlife disturbances if elected.
