election-commission

NEW DELHI: BJP has filed a complaint with the Election Commission alleging that the 'match-fixing' remarks made by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi during the 'INDIA' rally at Ramlila Maidan were a violation of the code of conduct.

Allegations are that Rahul is spreading false information, questioning the impartiality of elections, the authenticity of the voting machine, the laws of the country, healthy democratic conventions, the model code of conduct and telling lies. The complainants are Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri and BJP National General Secretary Arun Singh.

By referring to 'match-fixing', Rahul Gandhi accused the central government of appointing its own people to the Election Commission and subverting the results of the Lok Sabha elections. Rahul also said that BJP will change the constitution after the elections. The BJP demanded that Rahul Gandhi be directed to issue an unconditional public apology to the country, the Election Commission and Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the false allegations.

Warning to Supriya and Dilip Ghosh

The Election Commission has warned BJP leader Dilip Ghosh for his remarks against Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and Congress spokesperson Supriya Shrinate for making defamatory posts on social media against Himachal Pradesh's BJP candidate and actress Kangana Ranaut.

The commission pointed out that it was convinced that both had made personal remarks. This is a code of conduct violation. The commission asked BJP national president JP Nadda and Congress president Mallikarjuna Kharge to issue instructions to the leaders to exercise caution in public places while the election rules are in place.
