THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted that various districts in Kerala will continue to receive rain for the next few hours. The IMD said that isolated places in Thiruvananthapuram will receive moderate rain accompanied by thunder and lightning and winds blowing up to a speed of 40 kilometres per hour.
As part of the swell waves phenomenon, there is a possibility of high waves of 0.5 to 1.2 meters and sea surge at the coast of Kerala till 11.30 tonight. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Research Center said that the wave speed is likely to vary between 20 cm and 40 cm per second.
Fisherfolks and people living along the coast have been advised to exercise caution.
1. As the rough seas are likely to intensify, stay away from the dangerous areas as per the instructions of the authorities.
2. Keep fishing boats etc. safely moored in the harbor. To avoid the possibility of collision, each boat should be kept at a safe distance from other boats. The safety of fishing equipment should be ensured.
3. Avoid trips to the beach and activities at sea completely.
