KASARGOD: "An effort was made to show that this will be the punishment for teachers and students if they react against wrongdoings. I got justice from the High Court. Now, I can receive the pension that I thought I'd never get. I'm very happy," Kasargod Govt College former principal Dr Rama Madathil said.
She was responding to the High Court Division Bench's action of quashing all actions taken by the government against her on the complaint that he insulted an SFI student.
"I only made one mistake. I directed teachers and students to attend classes punctually. As I took a strict stand with the aim of improving the academic standard of the college, some students and teachers who were close to them tried to isolate me and throw me out. The teachers belonging to AKGCT are the ones who incite students to commit many crimes. Others remain silent as they are scared. I was crucified for issuing a letter asking to take action against complacent teachers. I faced the attack of SFIs alone. None of the teachers came to help me. The drinking water issue that was raised to protest against me was a lie. Has the investigation report come to light yet? It was a big conspiracy to expel me," Dr Rama said.
In February 2023, Dr Rama was removed from the post of Principal. Following this, widespread slander campaigns took place against her on the college campus. She was transferred to Koduvalli College on 10th July. Following the complaint Dr Rama filed with the Administrative Tribunal, she was transferred and appointed at Govinda Pai College, Manjeshwar. She then approached the High Court demanding that she should be appointed to Kasaragod Govt College itself. She received a favourable verdict from the High Court. Dr. Rama retired from Manjeshwar College on March 31.
