KOZHIKODE: A major fire broke out in a car workshop on the Gandhi Road at Vellayil in Kozhikode. The fire broke out Sunday morning at 10.30 am. The coconut trees nearby were also engulfed in the fire. The locals fear that there are chances for the fire to spread to nearby trees and houses.

The fire force reached the spot only half an hour after the fire broke out. The employees of the workshop are safe. Being Sunday, there were only very few employees in the workshop. Several vehicles were also parked in the workshop.

The fire broke out at the workshop which is close to the companies of Coirfed and Kerala Soap. Many people work here. Locals said that if the fire spreads, there is a possibility of casualties and major damages. The cause of the fire is not known. Reports said the fire has been brought under control.
