anchor

NEW DELHI: A TV anchor blacked out while reading heatwave updates live on air. Lopamudra Sinha, an anchor of Doordarshan's Kolkata branch, fainted due to a sudden drop in blood pressure due to extreme heat. As soon as she fainted, some men rushed to her, sprinkled water on her face and gave her water to drink. Later, Lopamudra himself shared what happened to her on social media.

"I never keep a water bottle with me. Be it a fifteen-minute or half an hour broadcast, I have never felt the need to sip water during broadcasts in my 21 years of career. But, I felt parched even as 15 minutes were left for the broadcast to end. When the TV was showing visuals and not my face, I pointed to the floor manager and asked for a bottle of water," she said in Bangla.

She said she thanked the producers for handling the telecast after fainting and apologized to the channel. Lopamudra added that everyone should take care of their health and drink water even at home. Bengal recorded high temperature on Friday.

Bengal's Midnapore and Bankura recorded 44.5 degrees Celsius and 44.6 degrees Celsius respectively. The Meteorological Department had predicted the possibility of a heat wave. Red alert was announced in many districts of Bengal including Bankura, West Midnapore, Jhargram, Birbham and East Midnapore yesterday.
