THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: With a day left for the polls, all three fronts in the state are hopeful based on their calculations. No one doubts that there will be greater progress than in last election, and the fronts are enumerating strong reasons for this.
Having won 19 seats (later 18) in 2019, the UDF is considering a complete victory this time. The Left Front believes that it will win at least ten seats in the changed political situation. While the LDF points to the difference in vote percentage in the last assembly and local elections, the UDF counters that these results are irrelevant in the Lok Sabha elections. NDA's trump card is the excellence of the Modi administration.
Will sweep up votes: UDF
The political situation in the state and the country is in favor of the UDF. Anti-BJP sentiment is strong. Prime Minister Modi's remarks against the Congress and Rahul Gandhi in recent days have hurt not only UDF supporters but even political neutrals.
Dissatisfaction against the state government. Employees' salaries and benefits have been suspended. Social welfare pension has been suspended. Law and order broke down. The financial crisis worsened. All this will be evaluated.
Good preparation was done. Without controversy, the list of candidates was announced and the campaign started. Prepared a proper election plan. Activists united.
Potential for wave: LDF
The inaction of the MPs is evident. Last time 18 MPs reached the Lok Sabha but none spoke for the state. They did not protest against the state's financial constriction.
Congress leaders join BJP in droves. Even if they are made to win, there is no telling where they will stand. Despite the LDF and the government taking a firm stand against the Citizenship Amendment Act, the UDF did not stand by it and did not react strongly.
In the 2021 assembly elections, the LDF won the succession with a higher voting percentage than the UDF. The Left Front won the local elections as well. No need to be surprised if there is a left wave.
Minorities are with us: NDA
Minority votes will be in favour of NDA. Direct connection has been made with about seven lakh Christian families. Prime Minister Modi's image abroad has made changes even among Muslim communities.
Victory is within reach in seven constituencies. There will be a big increase in votes than last time.
The Prime Minister's visit to Kerala also influenced the neutral parties.
The discussion of development stagnation will turn into a vote.
