THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Elector's Photo Identification Card (EPIC) issued by the Election Commission should be used as an identification document when reaching the polling booth on April 26 to vote in the Lok Sabha elections. Chief Electoral Officer Sanjay Kaul said that those who do not have an EPIC card can vote using 12 other approved photo IDs prescribed by the Election Commission.

The Chief Electoral Officer said that every voter should use this opportunity to participate in nation-building by exercising the right to vote and it is the responsibility of every voter.

These are the authorized identification documents prescribed by the Election Commission that can be produced at the polling booth instead of the Voter ID Card.

12 Authorized identification documents

  1. Aadhaar card,
  2. Job card issued under Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS),
  3. Passbooks with photographs issued by banks or post offices,
  4. Health insurance smart card issued under schemes of the Ministry of Labour,
  5. Drivers’ license
  6. PAN card
  7. Smart card issued by the Registrar General of India under the National Population Register
  8. Passport
  9. Pension document with photograph
  10. Service identity cards with photographs for employees of Central and State governments
  11. Official identity cards for MPs and MLAs
  12. UDID card for persons with disabilities
