NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a vicious attack on the Congress as the election heat reached its peak. Armed with Overseas Congress President Sam Pitroda's remark that there should be a discussion in India about inheritance tax, which is in place in America and some other countries, Modi alleged that the ulterior motives of the Congress are being revealed.

"If you have two houses, Congress will seize one. If you have two vehicles, one will be seized. It will be handed over to their vote bank," Modi lashed out at a public rally in Sagar, Madhya Pradesh. "Congress will also take away the wealth that should be given to the children from the parents. Thus they will tax the inheritance property. It will not be the children who will take the hard-earned money, but the Congress."

"Congress is the enemy of the OBC community. They will take away the quota of Dalits and the OBC community and bring reservations based on religion. In Karnataka, they brought reservations for the Muslim community through the back door. The Muslim community was also included in the OBC quota. Thus, the OBC rights are being taken away. The dangerous games of Congress will destroy the future generation. Development came with the end of Congress rule and the arrival of BJP rule. It was your vote that made the Ram temple in Ayodhya a reality," Modi said.

Congress rejects Pitroda

Congress rejected Sam Pitroda's remarks on inheritance tax. AICC General Secretary Jairam Ramesh stated that the party does not have such a plan. It was also pointed out that in 1985, the then Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi had removed the estate duty which was like the inheritance tax. Pitroda later clarified that what he said in the TV interview was a personal opinion and had nothing to do with party policy.

Caste census my life's mission: Rahul

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has said that it is his life's mission to conduct a caste census in the country. "Social justice for me is not only a political issue but also a life mission. There can be compromise in politics, but there will be no compromise in the goal of life," Rahul said.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi had severely criticized the Congress manifesto.
