KALPATTA: More kits meant for distribution to voters in Wayanad were seized. The kits were confiscated from the residence of local BJP leader Shashi in Thekkumthara, Wayanad. Following this, the Election Commission announced that action would be taken regarding the incident.
167 kits were seized from there. On the other hand, BJP claims that these kits were intended for distribution during Vishu. They also argue that the kits were stored to be distributed after the elections due to late arrival.
Additional kits were seized in a joint raid by the police and the Election Commission. Each kit weighs five kilograms and contains 11 items. 450 kits in total. Chief Electoral Officer Sanjay Kaul stated that action would be taken after investigations into the incident. He mentioned they would determine for whom and for what purpose the kits were acquired.
Yesterday, approximately 1500 kits containing essential items were seized from Batheri, Wayanad. Allegations of kit distribution were also raised in Mananthavadi Kellur.
