KOLLAM: Dr P S Nanda, undefeated by congenital cerebral palsy, is the daughter of D Prasannan, who was an employee of a private hospital and a retired teacher Seena from Sreeshailam, Kundara Mukkada Kacherimukk. Despite her challenges, she became a homeopathic doctor.
She gained entrance on her first attempt and completed her studies at Airanimuttam Govt. Homeopathic Medical College in 2019. Dr Nanda actively worked during the COVID-19 pandemic and her research paper on curing excessive bleeding caused by thyroid in women through homeopathy gained international recognition at the second International AYUSH conference.
In addition to her academic achievements, Dr Nanda received awards such as the Eastern Bhumika Iconic Award in 2021 and the Sthree Shakti Award in 2023. She also has the support of her sister, Namitha.
Despite undergoing four surgeries at the age of four and facing discouragement from doctors who said she would never walk due to tired legs, Dr Nanda persevered. Both Ayurvedic and allopathic treatments proved beneficial and with her sister Namitha's support, she attended school and showcased her abilities in storytelling, poetry, speeches and dissertations.
Dr Nanda became active in social service at the age of 18 and established the 'Pink Heart Charitable Trust' to assist needy kidney-cancer patients and students in need. Her next goal is to pursue civil service and she has initiated a Civil Service Aspirants Association to provide free education to aspiring civil servants.
