THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Polling for the second phase of general elections in the country has concluded. This time, the voter turnout in Kerala was lower compared to the previous election. Kannur recorded the highest turnout with 73.80 percent polling until six o'clock, while Pathanamthitta saw the lowest at 63.05 percent. Mavelikkara and Kottayam constituencies recorded 65.29 percent votes. Voting machines malfunctioned in several places in the morning leading to protests from the Congress party due to machine breakdowns and insufficient staffing. Tokens were issued to all voters who queued up until six o'clock and there was a long queue in Vadakara. In 2019, the state's polling percentage was 77.84 percent.

Seven people collapsed and died on election polling day, with three deaths occurring in Palakkad district alone. There were numerous complaints of fake votes with 12 reported across the state, seven of which were in Pathanamthitta.
