BENGALURU: Tejasvi Surya, BJP candidate in Bengaluru South, has been booked for seeking votes on the grounds of religion.

“Case is booked against Tejasvi Surya MP and Candidate of Bengaluru South PC on 25.04.24 at Jayanagar PS u/s 123(3) for posting a video in X handle and soliciting votes on the ground of religion,” the Chief Electoral Officer, Karnataka, posted on X.

Tejasvi Surya on Thursday said that 80 per cent people support BJP but only 20 per cent vote, while Congress has 20 per cent voters but 80 per cent of those people vote.

Tejashwi Surya had also appealed to the people of his constituency to vote in record numbers. Surya won the 2019 elections in Bengaluru South, a stronghold of the BJP since 1996, with a majority of over three lakh votes.
