THRISSUR: Argument broke out at Punkunnam Hari Sri School booth as LDF complained that BJP imported votes of party supporters from the Alathur constituency to the Thrissur constituency. When LDF said that fake voting will not be allowed and BJP took a stand that those on the voter's list should be provided facilities to vote, the collector who is also the election officer, reached the spot.
The dispute ended after Collector VR Krishna Teja clarified that those with names on the list can vote and if they have a complaint, they can go to court. Two votes were challenged by the LDF but not allowed.
Although the dispute continued for an hour, polling was not interrupted. The dispute took place at 11 am in the 30th booth of Punkunnam Hari Sri School.
It is alleged that the names of non-residents of Thrissur have been added to the voter list with the address of the flats here.
KP Rajendran, chief election agent of LDF candidate VS Sunilkumar, said that a written complaint had been lodged a few days ago and BLO had found 44 non-resident voters in Hari Sri School booth number 30. He also alleged that the number of votes increased by ten thousand in the Thrissur assembly constituency alone when the last voter list came out. UDF leaders who reached the spot also made the same allegation. BJP's allegation is that the LDF is illegally blocking those whose names are on the voter list.
