THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: BJP state president K Surendran said that the Left and Right fronts in the state suffered a setback as the voter turnout in the Lok Sabha elections held in the state yesterday fell by 6 percent compared to 2019. According to Surendran, the unholy nexus between the CPM and the Congress received a setback as the polling was very low in the strongholds of both parties.
"Many supporters of both fronts did not cast their votes as they were fed up with the unholy nexus of the CPM and the Congress. Even the workers of CPM and Congress have not been able to accept that both parties have joined hands at the national level. The anti-people policies of the Pinarayi government and the opposition's approach towards it have made people on both fronts think differently. The NDA was able to get its workers to the polling booth. The Congress has no chance of making a comeback at the national level. This has also influenced the polling," Surendran said.
Meanwhile, AICC General Secretary KC Venugopal on Saturday said that the election process in the state was messed up. Venugopal also alleged that polling was deliberately delayed in booths where the UDF had an advantage.
